Staragoza
STARAZAGORA: This prison camp was located in south-central Bulgaria in the department of Starazagora on the southern slopes of the Balkan Mountains, fifty miles east-northeast of Philippopolis. The Bulgarians incarcerated 800 Serbian and a small number of British prisoners in a large warehouse. Christian Phildius visited Staragoza in the Fall of 1916 and the World's Alliance arranged for the establishment of a War Prisoners' Aid program in a room in the prison.
